About Advocating for Better
Resources, guidance and connections for navigating what comes next.
Advocating for Better helps individuals and families find information and explore support when navigating disability, injury or changing care needs.
The hub brings together resources across healthcare, rehabilitation, education, community services, equipment, funding, everyday support and rights. Whether you are looking for yourself, your child or someone you love, it offers a place to begin, understand your options and identify possible next steps.
Why we're doing this
Finding support can take time. Information is often spread across different organizations, websites and systems, and it isn't always clear what is available, who is eligible or where to start.
Those questions can change as life changes: after a diagnosis or injury, when care needs evolve, or during the transition from childhood to adult services. A useful resource or a connection to someone with relevant experience can make that process easier.
Advocating for Better brings information and community connections together to make the search more manageable. Our aim is to help people explore support that fits their circumstances and priorities.
The help is out there. Finding it shouldn't be the hard part.

Meet Dana
Mother and Director of Community Engagement at Neinstein LLP
I'm Dana Geall, a mother of five, including 18-year-old triplets who live with cerebral palsy. Over the years, I've learned a great deal about finding resources, asking questions and advocating for my children as their needs change.
Like many families, we've had to figure things out along the way, from healthcare, therapies and school supports to equipment, funding and now the transition into adult services. I know how much time and energy it takes to find information, explore options and work out what comes next.
I also know the difference one helpful person, one meaningful connection or one clear answer can make.
That experience is at the heart of what I bring to Advocating for Better. My background as an educator, my work with THREE TO BE and my book, See Me for Me, have given me opportunities to support families, build community connections and share what I've learned.
As Director of Community Engagement at Neinstein LLP, I build relationships with families, healthcare professionals, community organizations and people with lived experience. My role is to listen, understand what would be helpful and bring people and resources together in ways that respond to those needs.
Through Advocating for Better, I bring that personal experience and community work together to help make useful information and connections easier to find. Whether you're looking for support for yourself, your child or someone you love, my goal is to help you explore your options and feel more confident about your next step.
