Accessibility
Advocating for Better is for everyone, including people with disabilities, older adults and anyone using assistive technology. We want every visitor to be able to find, read and use what is here.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, in line with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). We test pages as we build them and keep improving the site as we learn.
What we have built in
- Every page works with a keyboard, with a visible outline showing where you are, and a "Skip to main content" link at the top.
- Pages are organized with clear headings and labels, so screen readers can move through them easily.
- Text has strong contrast against its background.
- Body text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed to be easy to read, including for people with low vision.
- Text can be enlarged with your browser's zoom without losing content.
- Pages adjust to phones, tablets and computers.
- Photos have text descriptions.
- Links that open another website say so, for screen reader users.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, animations are turned off.
- Build my guide works with a keyboard and screen readers, and your guide can be printed or saved.
Known limitations
The Request a Conversation form is provided by Microsoft Forms, and the many organizations we link to run their own websites. We cannot control how accessible those are. If a form or a linked website does not work for you, contact us and we will help another way.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on this site is hard to use, or you need information in another format, please let us know. Email dana@neinstein.com and tell us the page and what happened. We will do our best to respond quickly and to fix the problem.
